Overview

Perform and oversee detailed quantity takeoffs and estimates for projects, regardless of size and complexity, including for self-performance trades (plumbing and rough carpentry).

Responsibilities

Review the completeness of bid forms and bonds prepared by Estimators. Review subcontractor proposals and material suppliers to ensure compliance with bid requirements. Build a historical database for price proposal and bids. 

Project Management: Lead scope review and assign subcontracts after receiving project awards. Assist with submission of compliance documents. Participate in assigned contract pre-plan meetings. Assist in defining the operations project/contract deliverables to the customer as required by the contract. Conduct reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities. Assist with subcontractor submittal process. Participate in regular job meetings.

Leadership: Guide a team of Estimators by helping select projects to bid on and review final estimates prepared by Estimators before bids are due. Review individual bid calendars for each Estimator on the team. Support the recruitment, development, training and retention of pricing and estimating personnel required to achieve a high-performance staff throughout the sector.

Business Development: Check multiple websites and publications for bid opportunities. Campaign to attract more minority subcontractors to join Drive Construction projects and assist in registering minority subcontractors with different agencies for minority programs. Build a database for MBE/WBE/VBE subcontracts, regularly update subcontract database, and evaluate/upgrade Drive Construction’s Estimating software. Update marketing materials for previous projects.

Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers: Organize meeting with subcontractors to discuss potential projects. Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project team members to submit complete bid packages.

Qualifications

Must have a bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, related or equivalent and five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in project management in the estimating field and experience with Procore, Plan swift, Building Connected, AutoCAD, REVIT, Primavera-P6, and Bluebeam.

Alternatively employer will accept a master’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, related or equivalent and 3 years of experience in project management in the estimating field and experience with Procore, Plan swift, Building Connected, AutoCAD, REVIT, Primavera-P6, and Bluebeam.
